Kopuwai Early Learning Centre is the only not-for-profit, parent run childcare centre in Alexandra and we pride ourselves on being a small centre, with a strong whānau and community focus. We have high teacher:child ratios, diverse settings and planning that focuses on individual children's needs.
Our Centre's programme is developed around children’s present needs and interests, the principles of Te Whãriki.
Our teachers use specific teaching strategies to ensure we provide a secure, stimulating and challenging environment for all learners.

"Children’s learning and development are well supported by the responsive, broad and play-based curriculum. Early literacy, imaginative play and science are curriculum strengths. Teachers provide targeted support to build children’s social and emotional competency and understanding of appropriate behaviour.
Children are encouraged to lead their own learning and investigate their ideas. The learning environment is thoughtfully resourced and organised to meet their needs. Children are calm, settled and show sustained interest in their play."
